A woman has unfortunately lost her life in a fatal truck crash on I-264 East today which shut down all four lanes of the interstate this morning. The accident involved a semi truck, a minivan and a garbage truck. According to Louisville Police officers at the scene, the garbage truck allegedly ran into the back of the minivan causing it to slam into the back of the semi truck. Neither of the truck drivers were injured in the accident.
This appears to be the case of a wrongful death which will be quite legally complex. The garbage truck is likely to be covered by multiple insurance companies depending on who actually owns the truck, who was driving and the parties who are responsible for vehicle maintenance. It is important in these cases for our attorneys to become quickly involved. It is important to gather as much physical evidence as possible and to preserve all data and information from the garbage truck and the cell phones of all involved.
There will be questions regarding the fatal truck crash on I-264 East today and the failure of the garbage truck to avoid the minivan including issues with tires, the vehicle’s brakes and other fleet safety related issues. There will be questions about the condition of the driver and whether the garbage truck driver was distracted at the moment of impact. The accident occurred at 6:45 am and while DUI is unlikely it must also be ruled out.
